Helping@Home
Connecting people in need with people who want to give, in a transparent and reputable manner
What we’re all about
We’re a non-profit association, registered in Switzerland. Helping@Home has developed a network and online platform for fundraising in support of local level initiatives in South Africa, projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). Helping@Home aims to establish its mission based on three pillars:
- South Africans who work abroad and are eager to support development back home in an innovative manner;
- A local partner network that secures broader support;
- An online resource profiling initiatives in South Africa that need material support for long-term focused development.
The Context
A clinic in rural KwaZulu-Natal needs new bathrooms, a library in the Northern Cape needs computers, a crèche in Limpopo needs a playground, a school-building in semi-urban Eastern Cape needs flood damage repairs, a centre for poor elderly in the Western Cape needs funds for a part-time welfare worker, a township sports club for children in the Free State needs training equipment…
Helping@Home seeks to connect pro-active managers from these institutions with South Africans working abroad – individuals interested, willing and able to make ad hoc financial contributions to address the needs of credible local institutions.
Our vision is that of a prosperous democracy built from the bottom up. Amidst big initiatives nation-wide, small steps and supplies locally can make a big difference. There are people far away who care and managers locally with pressing needs. Let`s connect them…
How are we shaping the future back home?
