Tears Animal Rescue

TEARS rescues, treats, rehabilitates and rehomes companion animals in need in the Western Cape area while promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Founded by Joan Brown, Marilyn Hoole and Emma Geary in 1999, the organisation operates a veterinary hospital, three mobile clinics and a kennel and cattery that accommodates up to 250 vulnerable pets. Their Community Outreach Programmes include free primary healthcare to community pet owners in the form of sterilisations and vaccinations, compassion education and pet care training, as well as animal rescue and adoption programmes. TEARS provides medical care and shelter and finds “second chance” loving homes for pets in need.
