Abalimi Bezekhaya

Abalimi Bezekhaya, founded in 1982, is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa. Our focus is community-led urban agriculture and sustainable food production in the Cape Flats region, including Khayelitsha, Nyanga, Philippi, Browns Farm, Crossroads and Gugulethu. Food security is paramount, from container gardens to production plots for income generation and job creation. Projects include community gardens, training in sustainable farming practices and facilitating access to markets for surplus produce, creating a sustainable model for urban agriculture that benefits both individuals and neighbourhoods.
