What do these two people need?

Andries Meintjes

Librarian
Andries is a librarian in the Upington library. He has a dream project, which is to create an IT-based reading centre for different age groups from the local community. To get started his library desperately needs ten new computers. Getting approval for this and having it delivered through his public sector hierarchy will be a long-term struggle. Libraries struggle to get prioritised among various local initiatives. Andries has heard of a new support platform, where he can profile a request for his current technology need.

Ilse de Waal

IT Executive
Ilse works as senior IT executive in California. She reads with concern about developmental challenges in South Africa. She wonders how she could help. Ilse comes from Upington in the Northern Cape (SA). She is well aware of the infrastructure and other weaknesses that exist in her hometown. She wants to help in a practical and efficient manner. She knows philanthropic donations are not a sustainable solution. But how can donations from abroad at least alleviate short-term pain and help to get the developmental machinery into gear more smoothly?
